Words From TFA's Managing Director and Founder, Paul Holdgate

Welcome to TFA!

Soccer, or football as it is called around the globe, is a beautiful game when played with passion, skill, and intelligence. This is why it’s the most popular sport in the world!

During the summer of the 2020/2021 seasonal year, the TFA ‘travel’ side merged with GTFC Impact, a move we believe will continue to provide players the opportunity to grow in the game and continue the development that started at TFA.  We are very proud of our past and our existence within the Toledo area soccer landscape.  TFA was designed for players who wanted to develop a true passion for the game, who possessed a strong desire to learn, wanted high-level professional coaching and instruction, who were willing to work on improving their play, and who showed the character to develop leadership skills. In addition, TFA emphasized the importance of responsibility and accountability in the player which led to greater maturity in the person so that they would develop more ownership of their actions, decision-making and self-control, in soccer and in life.  As our players now play under the GTFC banner, we are excited to see these traits and growth continue through multiple age groups and levels of play, creating a comprehensive atmosphere for players across all of Northwest Ohio.

While some things have changed, one thing that remains is TFA’s oversight of our very successful Toledo TOPSoccer Program.  In the Fall of 2015, TFA was the first organization in Northwest Ohio to start a TOPSoccer Program.  We aspire to continue the growth and passion of sharing the game of soccer through this program.  We are able to do this with the help of key licensed professionals, TFA/GTFC players and staff, and anyone interested in volunteering.  For more information, visit www.toledotopsoccer.org. TOPSoccer is a national program run through US Youth Soccer, serving children and adults facing emotional and/or physical challenges.

In addition, TFA is still heavily involved in the development of the Schneider Soccer Complex to allow as many players as possible the opportunity to have quality ‘home’ fields for their soccer career.  This continues to be an ongoing project and one that will benefit TFA TOPSoccer players as well as many others throughout the Toledo area.

Thank you for your interest in TFA.
